[redacted],First of all I apologize for the trouble. It seems like you were not communicated properly with during your Service experience here at the Brothers Powersports. I have reviewed this case and spoke with my manager and was explained the following. Your Banshee (YFZ350) was in for...
an inspection. As your letter stated we found a low compression issue with your cylinders. This was causing carbon build up on your spark plugs because the fuel is getting by the rings, hence the low compression. These units need compression in order to run correctly. We found that sand probably was the cause of the low compression issue. It is very abrasive and tough on the carb/cylinders. You should have been explained to by us that we weren’t going to reassemble the unit since it needs repair and more labor to perform that work. We dropped the ball on that. We simply didn’t collect enough labor to reassemble your unit. It is not typical to reassemble engines/transmissions/etc that need to be repaired. It needs to be torn down again by the next shop anyway to perform the needed repairs. You mentioned we do shotty work at best and all we did was an inspection. I am curious to know if the previous shop you were at did a compression test and what the results of that were. If all they did was scope it you cannot tell if there is damage. You need to remove the cylinder, which we did and only charged an hour labor. All I can do is offer to help you out further but it sounds like you are convinced we don’t do great work. Anyway that offer stands. Let me know what I can do for you. I can’t give you your money back since I had a technician inspect and report the problem but I can credit the inspection on future work. Sincerely,Brian N[redacted]
At no point in time have we refused to fix Mr. [redacted]'s watercraft. In fact we would love to repair the current problem. The repair we conducted before was motor rebuild due to a broken cam chain. The customer took the unit and then it came back with speed issue and upon...
inspection we discovered a super charger hose that had some loose. We replaced the hose clamp. From there the customer called for three months and explained there was a problem BUT never brought the unit in. When he finally did we took a GoPro video on a lake test and we didn't discover any problem. We checked the RPM and speed of 60 mph plus which is normal operation. After this the customer still complained of a problem but never was brought back for us to inspect. Yamaha is aware of this issue and we perform the work they recommend given the inspection notes. We just need the unit back here to inspect from our Silver Certified Yamaha Watercraft Tech who can perform a proper diagnosis. We will pick up if customer is unable to drop off as well. We do not want an upset customer and will do all it takes to resolve. Thank you, Brian N[redacted]Brothers Powersports
