Bienfait Stop & Shop Reviews (%countItem)

Bought 2 chocolate bars and total came to $5.75. Was asked if I wanted a receipt and said yes because I had previous trust issue from another incidence. As I was walking out the teller says to me, its a fuel receipt is that ok'. Right there I knew there was a problem. Took it home and after reviewing with my wife realized they are charging out confectionary items under fuel to collect the carbon tax. ***
My last issue with them was trying to not issue monies won on lotto ticket I had purchased, saying I had won $5 dollars when I had won ten, got my money after asking for it and let the incident go.
***
***d. I did not purchase 4.393 litre of fuel lol
So on 4.393 litres there was a charge of 1.30 per litre and. 44 cent exercise tax,. 66 cent road tax and gst at. 27 cents.

Bienfait Stop & Shop Response • May 23, 2019

First of all, we do apologize for any misunderstanding that was caused by giving out a card receipt saying 'fuel purchase' when the customer bought two chocolate bars from the shop, so that it made the customer confused and wondering if the shop is making customers to pay carbon tax for something that he did not buy.

However, the customer can be assured that he (or any other customers) did not pay carbon tax for something that he did not purchase, i.e. fuel. The card receipt shows only the total amount of money for what he purchased and it has no function of deceiving neither the customer nor the tax office.
The function of card machine is totally limited to make payments, it cannot be used to manipulate the amount of sales or tax at any rate.

The reasons the shop uses fuel code for purchases of other items were that;
First, it has no effect on sales tax (or carbon tax). Second it is timely and complicated to input every single item to the card machine while the customers are waiting for the payments to be done. All the necessary jobs, such as registering and breaking down prices and taxes for each single item of the purchase are already done by the Till machine before they reach to make payments with the card machine.
Therefore the shop always informs its customers about the card receipts and asks if they need till receipts for the full information of what they actually purchased.

That is why the teller asked the customer if it was okay to take the card machine receipt that says fuel purchase, otherwise she would have given him a receipt from the till (especially if he had some trust issue with the shop).
All sales transactions are to be recorded in the Register (Till machine) by item by item and it is the till receipts that will show all the break-downs of each purchase (including tax, deposit etc.).

The shop has been using an accountant company to book its sales and taxes for a transparent operation of its business. The accountant company will provide full financial information of the shop if needed.

Again, we apologize to our customers for any inconvenience, also in order to avoid the same problem in the future, we will give out both the till and card machine receipts to the customers who want their receipts.
