Becnels AC Services Reviews (1)

Review: Dear Revdex.com,I'm contacting you to see if you can assist me. I contacted Becnel's A/c Services in September 2013 Mr. [redacted] was very nice and prompt and even came out on a Saturday when I call due to our A/c not cooling. He showed up charged the unit did not even collect payment with me committing to allowing him to change the A/C coil according to what he gathered from the assessment "coil needed to be replaced". He and his helper came back on 9/6/2013 replaced the coil which costed me $1,010.23 everything was working perfect and we were happy. About a month later we started experiencing the same issue, so I called Mr. [redacted]l and he said he was going to send his guy back out again which he did and his technician put freon in the unit and said it was due to the weather that the unit was low on freon I thought that was a lot of BS but I'm not an A/c guy. So the guy left the house and we were cool again and we were happy. So going into fall and winter not using the a/c much we were okay, around March we started using the unit again only to discover in April the exact same thing started to happen again. I called Mr. [redacted] and this time he would not answer his office phone or his cell after calling and calling with no response I decided to call another company the guy came out and put freon in the unit again and this time he put dye in the unit to trace the leak and discovered that the was in the condenser coil. So, here it is I spent $1,010 with Becnel's a/c service and did not get my problem resolve was ignored after I bought it to their attention and ended up paying another company $317.00 only to find out I have the same issue. Revdex.com can you please assist me I extremely drained with the handling of this situation.Desired Settlement: I would like Becnel's A/c to stand behind their work especially since I have a 1 year warranty that they are not standing behind.

Re: Complaint 10118691

I was called out on Saturday August 31, 2013 by the person who submitted this complaint.

He informed me and my helper that his evaporator coil in the attic was leaking Freon and that he knew this because he had gotten other companies to check this out and had gotten prices to change his coil..This was a Luxaire 3 1/2 ton air handler.

I was asked to give him a price to change the coil because he was certain this was the problem. This being a Saturday, I was unable to get a quote on the cost of a replacement coil, so I added R-22 refrigerant to the system to get his family comfortable for the weekend. I did not charge him at the time for the refrigerant or the service call even though it was a Saturday. (Keep in mind this was a Holiday weekend)

On Tuesday, September 3, the day after Labor Day, I got a price for the evaporator coil from the Luxaire distributer and quoted the complaintant a price including labor to replace the coil. He agreed with the price (Also Keep in mind, he had gotten prices from other AC Companies) and we scheduled a time and date to complete the change-out. Scheduled Job for September 6, 2013. (Also Keep in mind I had added 4 1/2 lbs R-22 refrigerant to get the family by)

The coil change-out consisted of un-soldering a 3/8" and 7/8' refrigerant tubing lines and removing the coil from the air-handler.

We installed the new coil and soldered in the two refrigerant lines. We then tested the lines and coil with 200psig nitrogen to check for any leaks.

We then evacuated the system with a vacuum to remove moisture and debris from the lines and to further test for leaks. The system held the required vacuum

and Refrigerant was introduced in to the coil and refrigerant lines. We further tested for leaks around with an electronic leak detector to make sure the system

was ready for operation. We then opened the service lines and allowed Freon from the condensing unit to enter the refrigerant lines and coil we had just installed.

The system was ran and charged to the proper operating pressures. The system was sound and no leaks.

The invoice was issued (see attachment) and paid by the complaintant. Bear in mind that R-22 refrigerant is very expensive and was going for as high as $75.00 per lb. Please note the price I charged for the Refrigerant.

We were called back in 4-6 weeks because the system was low in Freon. We did find leaks around the service ports and tried to stop them as best we could.

we also at that time re-checked for leaks in the two solder joints in the attic and again no leaks. We explained to the complaintant that our work was sound an that he had other leaks elsewhere in his system.

He called couple of more times about the low Freon and again was told he had leaks in other areas. For some un godly he continued to blame my company.

In January of 2014 during the cold spell we had, he again called me about a heater problem, this was on a Friday and due to my schedule, I informed him I could get to him first this Monday morning. We set up and appointment for Monday Morning at 8:00 am. On Monday morning, I traveled about 50 miles ( I was House sitting in Prarrieville for my son) and showed up at his home as scheduled only to find that no one was home, I called his Cell Phone and he informed me that It had gotten too cold so he had called another company on Saturday to fix the heater.

Bear in mind, I have went out of my way to satisfy this customer, I made three service calls to his place with no charge: The first on a Saturday, the Second when he called and said his system was low on Freon after our change-out. and the third on a Monday morning when he wa a no-show for our scheduled appointment.

He did not get charged for any of these service calls with the exception of the R-22 we added on Saturday 8/31/2013 which was at a greatly reduced price.

I stand by all of the work we did and it is still sound. I followed his original request which was to give him and estimate to Change out his evaporator Coil in the attic.

I believe I have went over and above normal practices to satisfy him.

Respectfully submitted:
