Beacon Fitness

Review: Beacon Fitness was a health gym operated by [redacted] in Beacon, NY. The gym closed without warning in mid-2011 and [redacted] did not give members any information on how to reach him for refunds of their membership fees. Literally, I went to the gym one afternoon and it was closed with all of the equipment removed. There was no notice or contact information posted whatsoever. At the time, I had paid [redacted] six months of gym dues in advance for the period from April *, 2011 to October *, 2011. The total I paid was $179.70, or $29.95 per month. I still have the receipt I received from [redacted] after making that payment. The gym closed around the beginning of June 2011. I did not know how to contact [redacted] and assumed after two years that I would never be reimbursed for the money I had paid him in advance. However, earlier this year, someone gave me a phone number where I could reach [redacted]. I called him in June of 2013 and he indicated that he would reimburse me for the fees I had paid if I sent him a copy of my receipt. I sent him that receipt by email on June **. On June **, [redacted] sent me an email indicating that he owed me $119.80 as reimbursement for the fees I had paid. He told me in the email that he would pay me as soon as possible. I did not ever receive a check, so I sent [redacted] a text message on Aug. *, 2013 asking about the payment he owed me. I have six different text messages saved on my phone in which [redacted] indicated that he would be reimbursing me soon. As of Dec. **, 2013, I have not received payment. [redacted] has not responded to phone calls, emails or text messages in over a month. This complaint is my last resort.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive the reimbursement of $119.80 that [redacted] has agreed he owes me.

At this time, I have not been contacted by Beacon Fitness regarding complaint ID [redacted]. I have had no contact with [redacted] since the text messages and emails that were detailed in my initial complaint.
