Review: We purchased a Victorian Bulldog from Bark Avenue Puppies in Red Bank, NJ on 13 September 2014. During the purchase, the Owner ([redacted] explained that in the first 14 days after purchase if the animal should die our money would be refunded and if the animal should require veterinary care, any cost would be covered by the pet store. We explained that while we have a weekend house in New Jersey, we reside in [redacted] She said this was not an issue. On Saturday, 20 September, we took our dog to [redacted]in [redacted] because he was exhibiting loss of appetite and extreme sluggishness. We were given medication and told to return if the symptoms worsened. We went back the following day, Sunday, 21 September, and the veterinarian recommended immediate hospitalization. We notified Bark Avenue by phone and email on 9/21 and were told over the phone that any costs would be covered under the guarantee. We were not asked to provide anything else to them at that time however we continued to keep them informed about our dog's progress and sent them all of the medical information provided to us by our vet. Our dog was discharged on Wednesday, September 24. The bill was $1,824.43. We submitted the bill to Bark Avenue Puppies on the same day and followed up by phone every week after. We left countless messages for the owner however she never returned our calls. On the off chance that we spoke to her, she said that she was "looking into it" but provided no additional information. Last week, we received a letter (dated 23 January) from an attorney stating that the 14 day warranty only applied if we took our dog to their vet. This was never explained to us and does not appear anywhere in the purchase materials they provided us. Additionally they state that they will not reimburse us for any veterinary costs.Desired Settlement: We request reimbursement of the veterinary bills in the amount of $1,824.43.
