Review: On Aug. 2, 2010, I purchased an Armaclad "Elegant Expressions (TM)" All-Season Storm Door (life-time warranty)from [redacted], ###-###-#### for $1300.00 installed ($500.00 deposit on [redacted] + $800.00 personal Chase check on delivery). The door was for my sister's house in [redacted], NY and was installed on Oct. 8, 2010.
After 1-2 years I first noticed that on the lower panel of the door, the aluminum was separating and leaving a 6 inch jagged gash of friable grey aluminum along with some aluminum powder. The wooden core was visible. Since then the deterioration has continued with the original gash enlarging and several new gashs appearing.
On Aug. 5, 2013 I visited [redacted] and described the storm door's problem to the sales rep., **. [redacted], the same sales rep from whom I originally purchased the door. She expressed familiarity with the problem and said that other purchasers had the same deterioration problems. She said that since [redacted] was not the manufacturer, they had no responsibility for the defective storm door and could do nothing for me. She said that the manufacturer, Armaclad, anyway had been out of business for 2 years. This was not true. I googled "Armaclad Storm Doors" during the 2013 summer and their web site pointedly said we no longer make aluminum storm doors. Now we know why. They have since taken that statement down from their web site. I wrote to Armaclad Windows and Doors, [redacted] on Aug. 27, 2013 and described the problem and asked for a refund. They have not answered to date. On Oct. 1, 2013 I submitted my complaint to the New York State Division of Consumer Protection ([redacted])and also mailed them copies of all pertinent bills, invoices, [redacted] statements, cancelled checks, and correspondence. They in turn wrote to Armaclad Windows and Doors at the [redacted], IL address above in an attempt to resolve the issue but Armaclad never responded to their letter either. Maybe I will have more luck with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I can't get a replacement door since Armaclad claims they no longer make this aluminum storm door,so I am requesting a refund.
Review: I purchased a custom half moon storm door from their distributor [redacted] in Jan 2009. The door is rotting in the inside and outside and is falling apart. It is a storm door meaning all weather. Under Storm Doors Armaclads website reads Distinctive designs, the finest materials, quality workmanship, and innovative technology combine to create a storm door guaranteed for a lifetime of beauty and security. I called to complained on 10/5/2012. Payment was made thru a debi card. The only response I have received is thatthey ar no longer manufacturing doors, too many problems. They're only making windows now.Desired Settlement: Since they are no longer manufacturing the door I am looking for full compensation to have that door replaced and installed.
