I, like many others here, am dealing with a property management company that is simply trying to take advantage of the renter I lived in a home that they managed for two years and in that time they raised my rent about $and were trying to raise it another $until I said enough is enough The owner was trying to sell the home so it comes at no surprise that a laundry list of miscellaneous charges appeared Among the first charges are for a housecleaner and a "medium" carpet clean, when I have receipts and submitted the carpet cleaning receipt to them On top of the fact that my husband and I own a carpet cleaner and did the areas weekly They were so clean that the professional that we hired gave us a discount on his rate Then they charged me to paint walls...when I complained about this and asked to see what walls, the maintenance man reduced it to six I moved into the house as many others and left the house better than I moved in to it They charged me for trash removal, when he came the day that trash pickup was and the photo of the front of the house shows a closed garbage can, hmm Then they charged me for a cracked window on the second floor bathroom that was on the outside of the glass most likely caused from a bird This was addressed on a separate service call and the technician even called to order the glass while I was there The maintenance man that I spoke to said he could not find that record after telling me that they didn't have a tracking device for a call log in place to be able to find that call They also charged me to paint my front door which probably angers me more than any of these charges The lock on their front door broke so I could not enter the house in the Summer of while my six month old was inside alone It took minutes for a neighbor to help get the door open to get to my daughterA new lock was put on that evening I let them know what happened and that I had to replace the lock, and I was never reimbursed for it but now they want me to pay to paint a door that they had painted around its locks? Make sure when you move out you thoroughly read through the charges as they charged me for missing vertical blinds - as well as replacement slats package - which is a fancy way of charging you twice for the same thing They also stated that they were not charging us for a plumbing issue that they came out for, however at the top of the charges it states "plumbing leak" We had previously put in a service call for a leak in the garage that went through our closet and caused mold When the tech came to the house he sprayed some bleach over it and painted it white We never called them much but the times that we did were ignored It is sad when a company has to put in their FAQ why they "don't answer their phone" They also informed us past the days for a change in fees schedule and took longer than the days (in our lease) to inform us of the owner wanting to extend the lease Aside from the move out issues, their response time to service calls is terrible Our AC went out several times and a few of the times were not handled within the hours that is expected Also, our fire alarms went past their expiration date and went off when I was home alone with our two kids and the fire department had to come out to help me They opened up the alarms to see that they were several years past their expiration date which is 100% a Health and Welfare issue They addressed this about four days after the complaint was made I am happy that we are finally out of this house and the bleeding can stop from the wound that is renting from Metropolitan Real Estate

Just got back from vacation, have reached out to customer, awaiting responseI'm sure we can help resolve issue

I have been a renter with Metropolitan Real Estate for the last yearsThey took over my property management from [redacted] ***Ever since the switch of companies, my experience with them has been frustrating to say the leastI would never recommend this company to anyone It is so hard to work with this company and even get in contact with anyone who is willing to assist you for any issueEvery year they continue to raise the rent higher and higher, yet fail to want to work with their tenants for issues related to the home or your monthly statement in a timely mannerWhen you submit service issues for the property they either take numerous days to be responded to or are closed out with no response or action takenRecently, they required renters to either provide their own renters insurance or use the renters insurance provided by them for an additional monthly costI had a specific date to have all paperwork from my insurance company submitted to them to avoid additional fees on my monthly rentThis paperwork was submitted before the deadline, yet I was still charged the feesWhen I called and spoke to someone in the office they verified that I provided the needed documentation and should not have been charged, however never removed the feesWhen I called back I could not reach anyone and left voicemails, with calls never returnedIt took me responding to an email I recently received about their customer service and review of the company, to have someone review my account and refund the feesI would recommend considering other rental companies before renting with Metropolitan

This company is awful! Everything was "off" from the start. We had roaches and spiders at move in, they did come out and spray but after not succeeding they wanted to charge us for more spray. they wouldn't let us find another place since we put our deposit down. The house wasn't clean at move in either, we had to bleach the walls and the cupboards still had pieces of food in them....no wonder they had roaches. We are leaving because our lease is FINALLY up. They don't answer phone calls or attempt to call you back. I have phone records of me calling 16 times and I've received 5 call backs. The front desk woman is rude on the phone, terrible customer service. We tried fixing our pet damage in the carpet (because I'm a good person)...I could only use their approved carpet person who wanted to charge a ridiculous amount, I was for it until Metro wouldn't call me back because the carpet Guy wanted to take a piece from the closet and we had to get permission for it. I've called several times about the issue and I even put in a service request, but to no surprise...no calls! I have kept all of my emails and my phone records and I will be taking pictures of everything, they charge ridiculous fees,so can't be too careful. I will even take a picture of my pets damage because they're the kind of company that will make it worse and charge me for it. I've read on some of their reviews they've done this to prior tenants, I WILL NOT be one as well. if I have to I will take them to court. I am not playing around with this crooked company anymore. They should all be ashamed of themselves with the way they conduct business and the way they treat their tenants.

Just moved out of a property managed by them I am giving them the chance to resolve my issue, but if it isn't, I will definitely be filing a complaint First of all, as said by many reviewers, when I moved in to the rental the house was a disgusting mess There was also evidence of termites with the "evidence" hanging over my kitchen counters! When I called to complain, I was told the property was As Is and I was expected to leave it in the same condition I got it We had to pay $to have professionals come and clean before we could feel comfortable They did take care of the termites, within a few days I was told it wasn't considered a health or safety issue though, which is ridiculous That's a health issue in my opinion, how do you make yourself a meal with termites hanging over your kitchen counter??? The ONLY good side to them was that we always got good and quick responses to any maintenance type items we submitted We were charged $for an HOA warning for weeds in the front yard, not even a violation, just a warning! When I disputed the charge and asked for a copy of the violation, I never got a response After we moved out, at 4:pm on a Friday we got an invoice and a letter charging us $for cleaning, Misc repairs, landscaping, touch up painting, replacing blinds and other items Not only was most of it completely wrong, but the amounts they were charging was ridiculous! $for touch up painting! When the walls had food and candy and I can only guess what else on them when I moved in So of course I've called and had to leave a message I also emailed, but the letter they sent states to dispute the invoice you have business days to send a certified letter to them So now I have to take even more of my time to dispute something that is completely ridiculous to begin with They say in their previous responses they take feedback seriously, but they obviously don't because they continue the same unethical practices

We never called them much but the times that we did were ignored It is sad when a company has to put in their FAQ why they "don't answer their phone" They also informed us past the days for a change in fees schedule and took longer than the days (in our lease) to inform us of the owner wanting to extend the lease Aside from the move out issues, their response time to service calls is terrible Our AC went out several times and a few of the times were not handled within the hours that is expected Also, our fire alarms went past their expiration date and went off when I was home alone with our two kids and the fire department had to come out to help me They opened up the alarms to see that they were several years past their expiration date which is 100% a Health and Welfare issue They addressed this about four days after the complaint was made I am happy that we are finally out of this house and the bleeding can stop from the wound that is renting from Metropolitan Real Estate

Dishonest and not ethical at all

I have been a renter with Metropolitan Real Estate for the last yearsThey took over my property management from *** ***Ever since the switch of companies, my experience with them has been frustrating to say the leastI would never recommend this company to anyone It is so hard to work with this company and even get in contact with anyone who is willing to assist you for any issueEvery year they continue to raise the rent higher and higher, yet fail to want to work with their tenants for issues related to the home or your monthly statement in a timely mannerWhen you submit service issues for the property they either take numerous days to be responded to or are closed out with no response or action takenRecently, they required renters to either provide their own renters insurance or use the renters insurance provided by them for an additional monthly costI had a specific date to have all paperwork from my insurance company submitted to them to avoid additional fees on my monthly rentThis paperwork was submitted before the deadline, yet I was still charged the feesWhen I called and spoke to someone in the office they verified that I provided the needed documentation and should not have been charged, however never removed the feesWhen I called back I could not reach anyone and left voicemails, with calls never returnedIt took me responding to an email I recently received about their customer service and review of the company, to have someone review my account and refund the feesI would recommend considering other rental companies before renting with Metropolitan

Metropolitan Real Estate charged me $2,and move out costs to include $in landscaping for a yard that is nothing but dirt and rocks when I head insured there were no weeds and the trees and bushes were trimmed, $to paint the interior of the house when there was no wall damage, $for carpet cleaning that could have easily been done by a professional at half the cost and $and handyman services for volt batteries installed in only fire alarms that all had brand new batteries installed just a few months prior to move out as well as shower heads that they installed because the previous ones were bad and water damage that existed prior to me moving in that I sent them pictures of back in

I am currently trying to end my current lease I have submitted my day notice (not day as because per the other reviews they don't respond then charge you) and as expected they haven't respondedBut I will be sending them the same email everyday until I receive a response back or move outDo your self a favor and avoid this company

VENDORS AND CONTRACTORS BEWARE
we performed repair work on her building and did a competent
job, even small additional items not on our scope of work , we
were " supposedly " back charged by another contractor for
work we missed, we were never called or notified of anything
incomplete ( and we respond quickly on things like this ) we
receive a un-justified back charge ( no documentation or
contact with the other vendor ..after requests to validate)
then told that her maintenance guy had to go through and
make extensive repairs behind us that took countless hours
( we were not completed , nor had we had a walk thru / punch list
as we were waiting for others to finish their work so we could finish up)
upon her construction guy telling us everything was fine
we get an e mail saying they are considering our final invoice
paid in full due to fictitious back charges and " in house adjustments"
which are all b***t...my office warned me about going in as her
ratings are less than stellar ...then she posts negative comments
against us ..after positive reviews were posted on a site where we
are extremely well represented over the last years avoid this
place..not truthful people , very manipulative tactics played here
her tenants agree as well

Terrible communication company wide from these 'professionals'Refuse to make or take phone calls for any kind of business mattersNow that I have moved on from their residence because they increased rent by 40% they are still trying to email me to get to pay a monthly rent for a place that I dont reside inI left with a completed lease term

I RENTED A HOME FROM THIS COMPANY "AS IS CONDITION", UPON RECEIVING THE KEYS AND MOVING IN WE DISCOVERED THIS HOME IN TERRIBLE CONDITION! THIS HOME WAS NOT CLEANED, THERE WAS FECES IN THE TOILETS, KITCHEN APPLIANCES WERE DIRTY/MOLDY, BATHTUBS WERE DIRTY, NUMEROUS REPAIRS NEEDED AROUND THE HOME, CHIPPED COUNTER TOPS, BROKEN DRAWERS, BROKEN BLINDS, MISSING BLINDS/SCREENS, STAINS IN THE GARAGE, ON THE CARPET, MULTIPLE PATCH JOBS DONE ON CARPET, CLOGGED SINKS, DIRTY/CHIPPED PAINT ON GARAGE DOOR, MISSING LIGHT BULBS, WHOLES ON THE TILE/UNDER CABINETS, OUTLET DAMAGE, AND THE LIST GOES ON!! I INQUIRED MORE FEES RENTING THIS HOME THEN ANYTHING EVER! PAID TO HAVE HOME CLEANED AT MOVE IN A LITTLE OVER $200.00, REPLACING LIGHT BULBS, OUTLET COVERS, $FOR EXTERMINATION (WHICH WAS SUPPOSE TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE MOVE-IN), $IN PERSONAL ITEMS DAMAGED DURING STAY DUE TO PLUMBING ISSUES NOT BEING RESOLVED PROPERLY, $MAKING SURE HOME WAS CLEAN AT MOVE OUT THIS INCLUDES CARPET CLEANING

Spent years in one of their housesThey lost our security deposit I guess then decided a year after we moved out that we owed the money (after we tried calling them numerous times after moving out to not get a call back or an answer)Pretty poor communication skillsPretty petty shark-like landlords looking to make sure me and my broke roomate got found a year later and they had to get a lawyer as if we didn't call them for months following our move out (because we thought we'd get at least some of the deposit back)Pretty terrible company, I think a lawyer should investigate their scheme to be honestThere's probably a lot you could uncover we had plenty of other bad experiences like their lack of maintenance they would help with while living there, their lack of responses to our calls while we lived thereOverall super sketchy, super terrible business, I would recommend trying to find a better company to rent from 100%

be aware not to do business with metropolitan, thier are so dishonest so currupt, they were selling the property I was renting, they offered me $to move so then I moved, then guess what they gave me a bill for $because they supposedly changed the carpets and they repaired the walls, for the wholes of my pictures I was hanging, after calls no one answered me yet , be careful with Tom, he gives you a good smile making it seem like he's honest, and he's the one doing all this, and from what he told me he has done this many times

First of all we take any complaints or issues with All Secure very seriously. The issue Mr. [redacted] has as I read it has to do with the disclosure of the current alarm permit requirements associated with having a security system. In San Diego...

county, every single jurisdiction is unique in their requirements. Many require nothing whatsoever. It is and always has been the policy directed to our security consultants to inform our new clients of the requirements. I was not present at the meeting with Mr. [redacted] to know for certain what exactly was covered. Because of us not being present on every presentation, we let every customer know, in writing that their individual municipality MAY require a permit, and that they may need to obtain one to comply with the ordinance. We do this on a form called “No Secrets”. This was created so there would be no confusion or small print. The paragraph is directly over his signature. See attachment.

Chula Vista, for the last 20 years has had the relaxed policy of if you had no permit on file, and had an activation, they would simply mail you out an application. The first two false alarms are not penalized. The third within one year would cost $50. See attachment. This is the policy that was in place upon signing up Mr. [redacted]. In fact there was no “false alarm reduction program” in place to convey to him.

Chula Vista has since subsequently dramatically changed their whole protocol in billing for alarm system activations, and implemented the
"false alarm reduction program". This was implemented starting 1 July 2014, well after Mr. [redacted]’s contract date. Alarm companies were not even made aware of these changes for several months after that.

We find these changes by the city to be unfair and extreme. I think the citizens of Chula Vista should voice their opinions to the city in a loud voice. We have never seen penalties so punishing in any community we serve. What this will eventually result in is that many homeowners will cancel their monitoring services, making it an attractive place for burglars to work, with much less fear of being apprehended. This will make Chula Vista a much less safe place to raise a family.

We feel badly for Mr. [redacted], and all families in Chula Vista, and hope they can rise up to object to this heavy handed policy, but All Secure has nothing to do with municipal policy changes.
