I realize that there are frustrations in having to pay for recycling as many people believe that it should not cost anything or minimally cost very little to recycle.  However, with the older televisions at our company there are fees charged to customers based on weight.  All televisions...

that come into our facility are transported to a vetted and approved television recycling processor located out-of-state for proper processing according to the mandates of our certifications.  Our company pays transportation costs and pays the processor by the pound to accept the televisions that we ship.  Therefore, these fees are passed on to the customer.  I do not post fees on the website because these fees do change from time to time.  However, I do state on the website that "Recycling fees may apply to some items.  Please call for details."  The fees are also relayed to the customer when they arrive and before their vehicle is unloaded by our staff.  Items are removed by our staff from the customer's vehicle, placed on a scale with the weights written down on a clip board after which the customer returns to the office to pay based on the weights of the items dropped off for proper recycling.  At that point, if the customer wants to refuse the recycling services, we would simply return the items and put them back in the vehicle. This was not requested by this customer.There may have been some confusion in the conversation between the [redacted] (west of town, off I-40) and [redacted] located north of town off I-25.  His statement regarding the "[redacted]" would have been true as the [redacted] does accept televisions at this location and will landfill them.  However, what I said about [redacted] is true because our company is contracted by the [redacted] for this location.  At [redacted] the televisions are not accepted although occasionally they are found as it is not well monitored by [redacted] staff.  I am sorry for the negative feedback and we will do better in explaining to customers our process at the time they arrive here.  It is an unfortunate experience for this customer and I hope that he accepts my sincere apology for his experience.  However, I thank him for doing the responsible thing by bringing his televisions here rather than the landfill.
