Action Watercraft Reviews (2)

Review: My husband and I purchased a used jet ski in Sept 2013 from [redacted] at Action Watercraft. We test drove it, the first time the mechanic tried to start it, the battery was dead. He went into the shop, came out with another battery, said, "new battery," and put it in the ski ( it took him about 3 minutes). I asked if that new battery was to stay in the jet ski, he said, "yes." When we were deciding on whether or not to purchase, [redacted] told us he would store the boat since we had no place to keep it until our dock was installed in the spring. He would charge us 150.00 to store the boat, and 150.00 to shrink wrap it. We agreed to the amount, paid all charges, and got a receipt that said "Balance due 0"

Now it's spring, my dock is in, I called [redacted] to tell him I will be picking up my jet ski, he say's he needs a credit card. When I ask what for, and that all storage was paid for, he say's that now I need to pay over 300.00 to pick the ski up. When I tell him I was not informed of, nor did I agree to any additional charges, he tells me that he's been doing business this way for 20 years and nobody has a problem with it. I agreed to the charges, as he had my boat, and I had no choice if I wanted it.

I spoke to [redacted] again the day before I went to pick up. He called to say the battery didn't hold a charge, and it would be another approx. 135.00 to replace it. I told him NO, your mechanic just put a new battery in it when it was sold to us, so it can't need a new battery. I told him to go talk to his mechanic. The mechanic 'happened' to be standing right there, so [redacted] talks to him a minute and comes back on saying it was a "shop" battery not new. My reply, "That's not what I was told, but if that's what I got, get me another one." [redacted] say's he can't keep giving me shop batteries.

So again, I have no choice. if I want my ski, and if I want to make sure it runs before I leave with it, I have to pay 85.00 for a battery and 50.00 for the 3 minutes it takes the mechanic to put it in. Can you see a pattern developing? I give the OK after getting nowhere with [redacted], and then call my credit card company to find out what I need to do to dispute a charge. I was told to write on the sales ticket what the problem was before signing. I did that when we went to pick up. [redacted] saw me writing, wanted to know what I was writing, I told him, he got very upset, said I know what that means you're not going to pay, CASH ONLY! He then proceeds to call his crew on the radio and tell them to lock my ski behind the fence so I can't take the ski I bought and paid for in full including every bill he came up with. So, I called the police. They didn't want to come out because nobody was threatening or punching anyone. They said I should take him to small claims court?!?! My ski has been stolen!!! I went back inside to get the file I had laid on his counter with the title, registration and receipts for the ski. It's now gone. I told him to return them, he played dumb, said he didn't have them. At this point I had had it. I told him to call the police I was not leaving ( I was not nice about it). An officer came out, we both told our sad tails, and bottom line was he was unable to do anything to help us. He tried to get [redacted] to be reasonable and [redacted] said it was his right to demand cash. Everyone failed to realize that I had just paid for the charges, and MY SKI WAS LOCKED UP! The officer went back in to see if he could at least get [redacted] to hand over our paperwork, but he got nowhere.Desired Settlement: Billing adjustment and the return of my paperwork is what I would like to happen, but because I know that Action Watercraft

is not a member of the Revdex.com, nor does [redacted] care much about what the Revdex.com thinks ( or he would have responded to the last complaint), I just want it known what is going on, and that the D- rating that the Revdex.com has given Action Watercraft is too high.

Review: I was going to purchase a Yamaha Jet boat from Action Watercraft. The boat did not belong to Action Watercraft, but they were selling it for an old customer. The owner,

[redacted], lied about the hours on the boat, and lied about this boat being able to be stored in

salt water. I never signed a contract for the purchase of this boat. This was going to be my first

boat purchase, I felt in the beginning he was being honest with me and offering good advice. I

was excited about this boat I was going to purchase from him. He said he needed $500 in order

to start the process of calling the owner of this boat, and setting up an offer. [redacted] told me the owner of the boat would

accept $10,000 for the boat, he told me I had to send a check for the remainder. At that point I

said, take the hold off of my credit card, I was going to finance the $10,000. He said, he could

not do that. That should have been my first clue, but like I said I was excited about my first boat.

I decided to just pay for the boat with my savings, and mailed a personal check for $9,500. [redacted] had contacted me and said he would need the payment information for the bottom paint on

the boat, and asked if he should just charge my Discover card again. The total was $663. I said,

no I will give you another card. So I gave him my bank card information. He said, the work will

not be started until my check clears. I said, ok so nothing will be charged until the check clears,

he said right. I look at my bank statement and see he put the charge through that same day.

Meanwhile the check is still in the mail. I started having a funny feeling about this man, I looked

online and read reviews. I could not believe the horror stories from others who were taken

advantage of. I called my bank that evening and put a stop payment on the check. Earlier that

same afternoon I talked to [redacted] and he had told me the check did not arrive yet. So anyway the

stop payment was issued. That next morning [redacted] is contacted and told I will not be purchasing

the boat. He said, well I already have your check and deposited it. I check with my bank, [redacted]

has not deposited the check. I called him back, I told him I know he has not deposited the check,

and I would like him to credit all money back to my accounts. He said you are not getting back

your $500 cause I lost business on the boat. I said, [redacted] the boat is not even yours, it is not

property of Action Water. He said, if you keep pissing me off I won’t credit back the $663 for

the paint. I said, you cannot charge me to paint a boat, that is not even mine. He hung up on me. I

waited a day and contacted him again. At this point he said he will charge back the bottom paint

charge, but it would take a week to go through. I waited the week, checked my account, nothing.

I called [redacted] again. [redacted] said, oh well there is a problem. I said, what problem [redacted]. He said,

the boat was already taken off the blocks and waxed, so you will only get back $411, and not

$663. I said, [redacted] you told me you were not able to start work until after the check cleared. He got very hostile and told me I am only getting back the $411, he is

keeping the rest and keeping the $500. Meanwhile, keep in mind, this is not even [redacted]’s boat. I

went online after this conversation and started emailing other people who were taken advantage

of. I plan on petitioning to have this man put out of business. This is not right, he should not treat

people like this. Why should he keep $752 of my money for a boat I never purchased, a boat he

lied about and he knows he lied. I never signed contract and he never told me he would keep my

$500 no matter what. I believe by law that information has to be disclosed. Please let me know if

you need anything further.Desired Settlement: I just want my money back. There is no reason [redacted] should even keep this money considering this boat did not belong to him. I just want this nightmare to be over. Really, I would also like for this business to be shut down. Treating people this way is not right, its not ethical.
