Review: I took my car to the shop for a tune up on June Saturday [redacted] 2014. I was advised to flush the radiator due to build up and replace the radiator hoses because they were swollen. The repairman was very professional and explained the process well so I accepted.

The next day, Sunday June [redacted], I drove the car and white smoke started to come off underneath the hood. I was exiting the midtown tunnel and had to stop the car on a service exit of the LIE (495). I called the repairshop and being Sunday after 5pm, no one answered because they were already closed. I called my insurance company and asked for assistance in getting a towing company to come over. No one wanted to come by to help me out because NYC has an agreement with only a couple of towing companies that can pick up stranded motorists. None of those companies were available. The only thing I could do was walk to a gas station to buy antifreeze, walk in an area that has no pedestrian sidewalks or shoulder space, where cars drive over 40 MPH and do not slow down or stop when people signal for help. I was fortunate that someone stopped and gave me a bit of antifreeze so I would not have to walk the rest of the way. With that little antifreeze, I was able to drive to a gas station, get off the LIE and have a towing company stop by to pick me up. I was charged $290 cash to have my car taken back to [redacted]. I could not go to work on Monday [redacted]. I went to the repair shop and was told that the radiator had cracked. I was told that the radiator would be replaced at no additional cost. Was also told to speak to the owner so that I could be refunded the towing expenses.Desired Settlement: After a few visits and phone calls I finally spoke to the owner of the shop, [redacted]. who promised that I would be refunded this amount. That was back in June and it's now almost September. I want to be refunded the towing expenses ($290) that I was promised and that I should be entitled to because of the defective service that put my loved ones'safety and my own at risk and made me miss a day of work.
