May we talked with the customer for their June wedding. They decided to cancel. Our contract states: "If, for any reason, this engagement is cancelled, no refund on deposit"

Review: We booked them to be our DJ and sent them a deposit for half the cost. Closer to the wedding we attempted to reach them by email and phone and never got an answer back, our caterer had to call them acting as if they wanted to hire a dj then told them to call us back. 2 weeks before our wedding they finally call us back and apologized for overlooking our emails and phone calls then said he was on vacation. We told him that at that point we had to hire someone new because they disappeared on us, then he said he would give us our money back, and once again apologized for "overlooking our calls and emails". We get home to a letter from him saying he will no longer send us our deposit back.Desired Settlement: I want the refund he said he was sending.

I booked A jays disc jockey for my wedding in Wausau Wi, I did a lot of research since I live in IA and I really liked the personal attention and the references I got from the owner **. A few months before the wedding I provided ** with a list of over 60 songs we needed to be played at the wedding, we sent these well in advance the requirment was 30 days. We never got an email back saying that there wasnt songs available. The day of the wedding we got the reception and there was an older man and his wife there, there was no DJ booth they just had a taple set up with a lamp on it and the speakers were the wood ones that sit on the floor that you would find in someones basement in 1995. The quality was TERRIBLE the speakers were blown, it was really hard to hear the music and when the DJ would say anything (which was pratically never) you couldnt understand him. I was told this was going to be high energy trained DJ's instead I got an old married couple playing cds. They would play music that wasn't on our list to be played that you couldnt dance to like Johnny Cash I walk the line, how to they expect people to dance to that? And when everyone would leave the dance floor they would get mad and stop the song in the middle so we constantly had songs starting and stopping. The last straw was when the DJ asked us to come and see him 30 minutes before our first dance and told my new husband and I that he did NOT have the music for our first dance. Our photographer had to leave for 45 minutes and go to best buy and buy the CD, this was SO upsetting. Once the dance was over my new father in law went and talked to the DJ who told us that he was given a list of only 30 songs from the owner ** which he played half of, and that he was only told about my wedding the day before my event. He went on to tell us that ** has been dropping the ball a lot because his mother is ill. I contacted ** and let him know that he didn't keep up his end of the contract my husband feels like it ruined our wedding the music/entertainment was very important to us. I tried contacting ** about 4-5 times and he never responded back, I only wanted $300 back of the almost $1000 that we paid him because he lost almost an hr with our photographer who is $300 for an extra hr. It has been almost 3 months and I still havent heard from him. DO NOT BOOK THIS DJ!!! Only book him if want to hire someone to play very very old music on a CD on blown speakers!

My husband and I hired A-Jays DJ Service and was very happy with him. He was very Professional, friendly and played everything we asked for. He kept the party on their feet throughout the night. We were not disappointed. I would definitely recommend him to our all friends and family.

Everything was really great in the beginning when we booked with them but a few months before our wedding ** the [redacted] was very hard to reach but I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. Well when our wedding day came, the DJ was an older man and an older woman not lively at all wasn't entertaining AT ALL he basically just played music, he didn't talk to the crowd as **'s website indicates I could have hired a friend to do this because all that he did was just press play on a CD player. The equipment was SO old it was big wooden box speakers sitting on the ground, again **'s website says that is has professional equipment never have I been to an even like a wedding where they have had speakers that looked like they were found in someone's garage. There was a speaker blown too because you couldn't even understand the DJ when he would make announcements. But by far the worst thing was after I submitted my list of must play songs 30 days in advance which is indicated to do on my signed contract which reads "special songs must be supplied if **ays doesn't have send your song list/itinerary by Sep 5, 2013 or no guarantee we'll have." I sent the list more than 30 days in advance which was in a Microsoft excel spreadsheet there were over 60 songs that were on the list and there was never any indication that not all of them would be played. On the day of the wedding only a small amount was given to the actual DJ and the DJ only played about half of them. But by far the worst thing that happened was about 30 minutes before our 1st dance the DJ asked my husband and I to come talk to him, he informed us that he did NOT have the music for our first dance. We asked him if we could plug in our phones or computer, he said no we asked if we could burn a CD he said no. So without any other option our photographer left the reception and went to best buy and purchased the CD for the DJ. Our photographer was gone for about 45 minutes to 1 hour while he was gone we lost that time with our photographer and the memories he was going to capture, to add another hour onto our photography package would be $300. I feel like we are entitled to a full refund if not that at least the $300 for our photographer. We talked to the DJ at the end of the night and he told us the [redacted] has been dropping the ball a lot because his mother is very ill, while I do feel for him and am very sorry for that he did not perform the service that we signed up for he can not keep taking gigs and then not come through. My husband feels like it ruined the night we had a countless number of people come up to us and ask where we found the DJ because they couldn't believe how bad it was. I have emailed the [redacted] twice now and haven't received any type of communication back from him. This was a beyond terrible experience I'm going to try to not let it scar my wedding day for me by it will be very hard to get over.Desired Settlement: I would like to have a full refund or at least $300.00 which is what is costs for an hour with photographer which we lost when he went to get music for the DJ for our 1st dance.
